June 8, 2011 - Stanley Park in Vancouver, BC

I only had two nights and full one day to spend in Vancouver, so i had to limit myself to just a few attractions. I got into the city the night of the 7th just before the sun went down. The miracle was that it was out. I saw the city in its full sunny regalia. The next day was not as clear. Just hazy enough to eliminate the possibilities of going up into the northern mountains for panoramic views. So i decided to go back to Stanley Park and see it in full daylight. The first few photos before the Stanley Park sign are just outside of the park's entrance.

Read more about Stanley Park.

In Vancouver there are trees everywhere, even on the buildings! That's why i took this photo. This city has the most beautiful gardens everywhere you look.

These guys just appeared out of nowhere on my way to the park. Of course i had to stop and check them out.

These kind of unplanned encounters are common in Vancouver.

The vegetation was lush and the flowers were in full bloom.

Everywhere i went was like a garden. If it didn't rain there all the time i think i would love to live there!

Finally.... Stanley Park!

The size of some of the trees is incredible. Much of the park has been left in its original state.

A beautiful sign telling about the Coastal First Nations. The following are the famous totem poles seen from different angles.

The Lion's Gate Bridge as seen from the totem poles.

A cool gift shop adjacent to the totem poles has lots of great crap to buy. I bought my roommate a little totem pole that is on the wall of her boat now.

Horse drawn transportation is a common scene in the park.

I finally moved on toward the bridge.

Industrial infrastructure on the northern shores.

The circular drive around the park offers great vistas.

More totem poles just pop up randomly around the city.

I didn't manage to actually go on the bridge. Next time when i have a few days to spend.

I don't remember what this was. Just looked cool.

The bridge from the overpass.

Zooming in on the one of the lions.

One of the lions on the overpass.

The bridge from the west side.

The majestic Lion's Gate Bridge. For some reason i didn't take any more pics in the park. Guess that was the best of.
