September 24, 2011 - NEBRASKA TRIP - Arizona and California

I made it to Kingman, AZ and got a cheap hotel room. I awoke early and finished my journey. This was to be a loooooong, hooooot day. By the time i got to Bakersfield, CA it was like 110 degrees F.

Kingman has a few interesting older buildings, but i liked the landscape around it more.

I took the road to Oatman, a living ghost town. That means it is preserved like a town of yesteryear but is actually a tourist attraction. The road to it is gorgeous.

I finally hit Oatman and lo and behold there's Snob Hill Road!

I was fortunate to go through at 7 in the morning. I had the town to myself. Nothing was open so it seemed more like a museum and i hear it gets packed with tourists.

I was surprised when the burros came right up to me. I later read that they were used for labor and then abandoned when mining dried up. Now they are tame and entertain the tourists. They were disappointed i had nothing to feed them and moved on.

This one came with a sticker on his forehead!

The bridge over the Colorado river! Back in California, but still a long ways home.

A mural in Barstow, CA

Joshua trees in the Tehachapi Mountains

I stopped to relieve myself and this entertained me

A healthy looking joshua tree

The windmills over the pass near Tehachapi, CA.
I was over the trip now, but it wasn't over yet. I was physically and mentally wore out and took no more pictures. The rest of the trip was not very scenic anyway.

Overall a GREAT trip!
